Manitoba Conservative Caucus

Dear Commissioners,

As you undertake the important task of reviewing the federal electoral district boundaries, we wanted to share our main recommendations as a Manitoba Conservative Caucus.

In order for the constituents of Manitoba to be best represented in Canada's Parliament, we believe that the following factors should be considered in your review of each electoral district:

  • Churchill-Keewatinook Aski be given special consideration regarding population due to the northern and remote communities of interest in an already large geographical area.
  • Growth rates are considered during redistribution by analyzing projected future populations in neighbourhoods and municipalities.
  • Communities of interest should be represented through grouping to ensure that Members of Parliament can best represent the similar needs of communities who share mutual concerns and priorities.
  • Economic trading areas be considered in each riding so sectors and industries that play an integral role in the local economies of electoral districts can be better represented.
  • No Rural Municipalities be divided between electoral districts so Members of Parliament can work better with all levels of government to advance mutual interests.

If the Commission has any questions or concerns regarding our recommendations, please do not hesitate to reach out to discuss further.

Sincerely,

Dan Mazier, MP (Dauphin-Swan River-Neepawa)
Candice Bergen, MP (Portage-Lisgar)
James Bezan, MP (Selkirk-Interlake)
Raquel Dancho, MP (Kildonan-St. Paul)
Ted Falk, MP (Provencher)
Larry Maguire, MP (Brandon-Souris)
Marty Morantz, MP (Charleswood-St. James-Assiniboia-Headingley)
