Dear Commission Members

Thank you again to the Manitoba Commission for inviting members of the public to further participate in the redistribution process. I would like to start by thanking the Commission for the work you have already done and to all the people that have made submissions and provided thoughtful feedback during the process.

I would like to acknowledge all the work the Manitoba Commission has put into the preliminary boundary report. I understand that there are many challenges the Commission faces when looking at redistribution and the impact each change can have on all the ridings that make up Manitoba. Your ongoing work is very much appreciated.

As I highlighted in my first submission to the Boundary Commission, Winnipeg Centre is a vibrant, diverse, and exciting part of the city. Maintaining continuity of the riding's boundaries should be a priority as it is uniquely situated in the center of the city of the city, has historical significance, is comprised of many communities with similar strengths and needs.

The boundaries proposed in the preliminary report fit with the guiding principles set out by the Commission by geography, community history, community and minority interest. It also provides continuity with the existing neighborhoods. This helps us to provide advocacy and support for our constituents. We have built an understanding of the needs of our community in Winnipeg Centre, and because of this we are better able to serve them.

Again, thank you to the Boundary Commission for your work in the redistribution process; I look forward to your final report.

Leah Gazan Member of Parliament for Winnipeg Centre
