To whomever it may concern:

I am a resident of the RM of Rosser, which is currently in the riding of Selkirk-Interlake-Eastman. I was previously the Reeve of the RM.

In preparation for your analysis to determine the federal riding boundaries for the next 10 years, I am submitting my thoughts to help you in your efforts.

The current population of Selkirk-Interlake-Eastman has grown, and it would be prudent for the RM of Rosser to be added to the riding of Kildonan-St. Paul.

The RM of Rosser neighbours the municipality of West St. Paul, with which many of our residents already have close relations and business connections. Either for shopping, schools, churches or otherwise, there is a strong connection. While the RM of Rosser is only 1200 residents, it would help bring both federal ridings closer to the provincial average.

I should also add that the municipality of West St. Paul has seen rapid growth in the past 5 years. The population grew by 24.5% and should continue to do so for the coming years. With this in mind, and with the addition of the RM of Rosser to the existing boundaries of Kildonan-St. Paul, it is the best path forward. Besides moving the RM of Rosser into the federal riding of Kildonan-St. Paul, I strongly advise that both ridings – Kildonan-St. Paul and Selkirk-Interlake-Eastman – keep their current boundaries. Your work 10 years ago during the last redistribution regarding these two ridings was spot on and deserves to be commended.

This will cause the least disruption to bring both federal ridings closer to the average population per riding and completely makes sense to do so.

Thanks for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Alice Bourgouin

Former Reeve, RM of Rosser
