I wish to respectfully make representation for re-consideration of the decision to place the town of Acton (ON) within the proposed riding of Wellington-Halton rather than within the proposed riding of Georgetown-Milton East.

The town of Acton has been an integral part of the town of Halton Hills since the advent of regional government in Ontario in the 1970s. It is an urban centre as is Georgetown. Economically speaking Acton and Georgetown share the same source of employees and customers. Our transportation links are intertwined. Our needs related to growth management, transportation, managing of aggregate mining sites, environmental and sustained development are all highly connected given our sharing of the municipal entity under which we are governed municipally, as Halton Hills which further shares a presence in the region of Halton.

We recognize the commission seeks equity of voter numbers across all ridings in Canada and this is a laudable objective.

I would just ask and urge that the commission take into serious account the representations being made along these similar lines of concern by our Mayor Rick Bonnette and the entire council of the town of Halton Hills of which Acton is a part.

For the above stated reasons and the many other reasons that could be listed we urge the commission to revoke its earlier decision and include the town of Acton which is part of Halton Hills within the proposed riding of Georgetown-Milton East.

sincerely,

David Steckley
