I am emailing to express my displeasure with the proposed new Niagara West riding including the city of Thorold. Thorold has been a part of the Welland riding for years, as it reflects the mostly urban area of Thorold. The people of Thorold have nothing in common with the rural and conservative residents of Niagara West (grimsby, West Lincoln and Lincoln).
It would make more sense for that riding to include the rural, conservative farming populations in Haldimand or Norfolk. The people of Thorold would much rather continue with the welland riding or join Niagara Falls or St. Catharines ridings.
If included in this riding, the city of Thorold would be forgotten and unrepresented in Ottawa.
I'd be happy to chat more about this and I know of many Thorold residents who feel the same as me on this issue.
