Federal electoral districts redistribution 2022

Foreword

This Final Report is the last of the documents prepared by the Commission pursuant to the Electoral Boundaries Readjustment Act, R.S.C., 1985, c. E-3, since its creation on November 1, 2021. It follows the Commission's Proposal published on May 6, 2022, (subsection 14(2)) and its Report of February 7, 2023, tabled in the House of Commons on February 8, 2023, (subsection 20(1)).

This Final Report has two components.

The first reproduces in full the Commission's Report tabled in the House of Commons.

The second contains the decisions made by the Commission regarding each of the objections upheld by the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs. Under subsection 23(1) of the Act, the Commission's mandate is to study the objections, make decisions about them, and transmit a final report, with or without amendments, to the Chief Electoral Officer.

This second component contains a summary chart listing the electoral districts with their census population, and is followed by an appendix in three parts. The first part of the appendix contains the descriptions of the electoral districts that have been modified in response to the objections, and illustrative maps. The second part is a corrigendum addressing necessary minor clarifications and corrections to boundaries; these do not affect any census population. The third part is the collection of the descriptions of electoral districts other than those modified in response to the objections.

The Commission is pleased to file this Final Report in completion of its duties.
