Correction on new district:

The Commission notes that it proposes three new electoral districts. One in the Brampton—Caledon—Dufferin region, one in the Halton—Wellington region, and one in the region of Central Ontario, Eastern GTA, and Northern GTA.

However, the Commission's explanation says Lake Simcoe—Uxbridge is a new electoral district, but it is not. There are ten districts in York Region today, including York—Simcoe (66% within York Region). There are still ten districts in York Region in your new map. You correctly note that Lake Simcoe—Uxbridge encompasses a portion of the existing district of York—Simcoe plus portions of the existing districts of Markham—Stouffville and Pickering—Uxbridge. So Lake Simcoe—Uxbridge is partly in Durham Region, but otherwise Durham Region still has five districts as it does today.

The correct explanation is that Simcoe County, which has four districts today, will have a new district, New Tecumseth—Bradford (73% within Simcoe County), making five districts. New Tecumseth's 43,948 residents come from the current Simcoe—Grey, which is 30.19% over quota, while Bradford—West Gwillimbury's 42,880 are from the current York—Simcoe which is 6.75% over quota.

Given that the districts in Toronto and in Northern Ontario will each be reduced by one, you may confuse them by pointing to your sprawling Lake Simcoe—Uxbridge district as the new district.
