Dear Ms. Puddy,
Following the recent release of the proposed electoral boundaries for Eastern Ontario, we are writing you this letter to request that the boundaries for our ridings of Northumberland—Peterborough South, Peterborough—Kawartha, and Haliburton—Kawartha Lakes—Brock remain the same, as they have for the last 7 years.
After the last redistribution, there was a lot of confusion within the ridings about who was representing them. This is an unnecessary pain for constituents as, under the current boundaries, the characteristics of our respective ridings are well represented.
Additionally, the proposed boundaries will create artificial separations in small communities, including Cavan-Monaghan, Roseneath, and Buckhorn. These artificial separations cause even more confusion for residents.
In summation, for the good of the local communities, we urge you to keep the boundaries for the federal electoral districts of Northumberland—Peterborough South, Peterborough—Kawartha, and Haliburton—Kawartha Lakes—Brock the same.
Thank you for your consideration,
Philip Lawrence MP
