Please see the attached letter from the Council of the Municipality of Dysart et al detailing their support for the request from the Municipality of Highlands East to remain, in its entirety, within the Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock district boundaries.

Re: Federal Electoral Districts Redistribution 2022 - Municipality of Highlands East

At the September 27th, 2022 regular meeting of the Council of the Municipality of Dysart et al, the following resolution was passed:

Be it resolved that Council directs that a letter be sent on behalf of Dysart Council to the Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission for Ontario expressing support for Highlands East to remain within the boundary lines of Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock district.

The current Federal Electoral District has the Municipality of Highlands East within Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock district boundaries. Under the proposed change, a portion of Highlands East would become part of the Hastings-Lennox and Addington-Tyendinaga district. This proposed redistribution would draw a division line across the Municipality, which has vested interest in maintaining political cohesion on federal policies impacting the County of Haliburton. The importance of the Municipality's cultural and historical link to Haliburton County and the broader riding of Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock should not be ignored.

The Municipality of Dysart et al supports the request from the Municipality of Highlands East urging the Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission for Ontario to reconsider this proposed redistribution.

Sincerely,

Mayor Andrea Roberts
Municipality of Dysart et al
