I am writing to oppose the proposed new name of the district which is Collingwood-Blue Mountain. This description does not represent the population appropriately. In the 2021 census Blue Mountain only has a population of approximately 9,300, where as Wasaga Beach population is over 24,000 closer to the size of Collingwood.

Generally, if you reference Collingwood, you quickly get a sense of the Blue Mountain area. When you mention Wasaga Beach you get a sense of the bottom of Georgian Bay, the southern/eastern side of the area.

I would suggest two alternative names;

Collingwood - Wasaga Beach – Blue Mountain - Grey
Georgian Bay – Grey – Southern Simcoe

Please select a name that communicates the full major populations of the geographic area and not Collingwood – Blue Mountains which is too narrow and specific to the western portion of the geographic area and not representative of the majority of the population.
