I wish to convey my concern regarding the proposed change of boundaries of Simcoe North and also the proposed name change to Penetanguishene-Couchiching.
The boundary change would mean residents in Oro-Medonte whose ties are to Orillia and area (working, shopping and heavy involvement in community events like sports and culture) and who are presently in the Simcoe North riding, will be in the Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte riding. They will be voting for representation in an area they have little to do with. That is not logical or fair.
Also, the riding has existed since confederation. What is the purpose of changing its name now. What could possibly be a reason for changing Simcoe North to Penetanguishe-Couchiching? It is guaranteed that the proposed name will seldom be spelled correctly!
As a lifetime resident of Simcoe North, I wanted my voice to be heard on this issue.
