Please accept this email as my formal request that Grey Highlands continue to be represented by our MP in the Grey-Bruce-Owen Sound riding. Changing our municipality to be aligned to the Town of Blue Mountains is inappropriate for multiple reasons.
Geographically, our municipality partners with neighbouring municipalities that are part of Grey County. The Niagara Escarpment region has great impact on natural travel routes and naturally shared community resources. Realigning Grey Highlands federal riding outside of Grey County means federal representation is mismatched to actual community representation, meaning that the federal supports we access and use in our municipality are more shared and more aligned with Grey-Bruce-Owen Sound current riding region than federal resources of Town of Blue Mountains.
Realigning our municipality's federal riding will also create a mis-match between federal and provincial riding representatives. The opportunity for our federal and provincial representatives to work in conjunction is very well aligned under the same riding regions currently. It would be of great disservice to us as residents of Grey Highlands municipality, as well as all tax payers in both Grey-Bruce-Owen Sound and Town of the Blue Mountain ridings.
I have called my MP and expressed these concerns to their office. It is my hope this email will further endorse my comments and concerns expressed to Alex Ruff's office.
