I understand the current feelings about changing names from our past that had questionable dealings with natives, blacks and other minorities or policies. Perhaps dropping the name Simcoe from the riding name is a step in the right direction. However, saddling the riding with the name Penetanguishene-Couchiching seems ludicrous! No one can spell these two words, the name is far too long and it inadequately represents the many other communities and towns that lie within the riding borders. Towns such as Waubaushene, Port McNicoll, Victoria Harbour, Midland, etc. Couchiching is not even a community - it is a Lake! How about something like Huronia, Wendat, South Georgian Bay or anything else that is easy to recognize and represents the region.

Please register my objection to this proposed name change.
