It has been brought to my attention that Elections Canada have a proposal to change the boundaries and bring the balance of Oro Medonte from Line 9 East, into the Barrie, Springwater, Oro Medonte riding.
As a resident on Town Line (since 2006), just outside of Coldwater (south of Foxmeade) I am very much opposed to this plan.
As part of Simcoe North riding, my current MP, Adam Chambers has offices in Midland and Orillia which are far easier for me (and all others in this area) to access with any issues or such (passport for eg.) that we might have.
I rarely go to Barrie - Orillia & Coldwater are my main towns for all my needs: I shop, go to the Rec Ctr, medical appoiontments, entertainment, farmers markets, etc.
If the boundaries change, our end of Oro Medonte will get swallowed up and missed, in my opinion, if this change occurs. It will be much harder for us to get the attention of an MP in Barrie.. can you imagine Doug Shipley coming to march in the Warminister Santa Claus Parade?...... I doubt it! But Adam Chambers did!
Perhaps for someone at Elections Canada Office it may not make sense to divide a township in half but for the people who live here it does make sense.
please do not do change these boundaries! and put me on record as one who objects wholeheartedly to this proposal!
