I will keep this brief. I believe it would be a mistake for the Commission to reduce Scarborough's federal electoral boundaries from 6 to 5. Scarborough is a growing/thriving community the needs the representation that was created in the last realignment. Taking that away from us just reinforces the lack of care/respect that agencies like yours has for diverse communities like mine. You're vividly sending the message that communities of diverse cultures don't deserve to be fairly represented at the Federal level. And unfortunately by design, that could mean at the provincial and municipal levels as well. The fact that more energy is being put into disengaging specific communities from voting over making the political process more attainable/tangible to voters speaks volumes as to what your priorities are. And it's clearly not the average voter.
I truly hope that this situation opens the eyes of the people of Scarborough. If we want to continue existing in this community, we have to fight for what we deserve.
