Dear Sirs;

I sincerely believe a correction to the 2022 redistribution proposal is required in the following areas;

  • The historic name of Agincourt must be continued. (i.e., Scarborough – Agincourt)
  • The reinstatement of the current Scarborough Agincourt Riding vs the proposed Scarborough Northwest Riding
  • The reinstatement of 6 ridings in the former City of Scarborough now part of the City of Toronto.
  • Reinstatement of the existing 25 ridings in the City of Toronto

Scarborough from an area basis is large, the largest land area within the City of Toronto.

Historically as Toronto grew, the eastern side (Scarborough) continued its agricultural base longer than other areas. The village of Agincourt located on a major west / east concession road, adjacent to a major rail line established itself and the northern area of Scarborough started to develop. (Agincourt village, (a crossroad community) dates back to 1858, with the establishment of the first post office. By the turn of the century, Agincourt had become the largest community in the township and continued to prosper right into the 20th century. Agincourt village also established a public school (Agincourt Public school, fondly called little A, then the high school Agincourt Collegiate these are still in use except for the post office).. It is extremely important that the riding include the historic Scarborough – Agincourt name.
