The proposed name change of Parkdale—High Park to Taiaiako'n—High Park is absurd. Riding names should be intuitively pronounceable in either of Canada's official languages, should be meaningful to the residents who live there, and should convey a sense of where the riding is and what it's geographic make up is. I've lived here for 24 years and never heard the name Taiaiako'n. There is no Taiaiako'n neighborhood or street here. No businesses with the name. High Park is both the dominant geographical feature of the riding and one of it's several prominent neighborhoods. Parkdale is another prominent and distinct neighborhood. The current combination both accurately describes the geographic make up of the riding and has meaning to the people who live here. I hope this proposal is scrapped, as it's an insult to the residents of Parkdale—High Park.
