I would like to express my concern regarding the redistribution proposal for Etobicoke Centre. People naturally identify with a defined geographical area. We in Etobicoke identify with Etobicoke. The Etobicoke Creek on the west, and the Humber River on the east, are long-standing borders which define Etobicoke. Residents east of Islington Ave, to the Humber River, have far more in common, and far more established relationships, with the rest of Etobicoke Centre than they do with areas east of the Humber. Etobicoke neighbourhoods in Etobicoke ridings are Etobicoke-focused, because that's where we live. We would expect our MP to do likewise, rather than dividing attention between one side of the river, and another. In addition, it would create incongruence with both the provincial riding boundary, and the municipal ward, whereas all three are now identical.

If redistribution of riding boundaries, within Etobicoke, is required to acknowledge shifts in population, then please make those changes within Etobicoke. But only if this is absolutely necessary, and should be done in concert with the Ontario provincial riding boundaries.

Please leave all Etobicoke residents within Etobicoke ridings. Thank you.
