I am writing to oppose the proposed change in the Federal Electoral Boundary for Ward 22.
The commission that proposed this change has based their decision on a 2021 census which was flawed due to the pandemic. In addition, there are more than 9 apartment, condo and townhouse developments happening in Scarborough-Agincourt, and another 7 other developments in the works. The population is growing very quickly.
The change disregards the cultural identity and historical significance of this ward. The boundary for Scarborough with Victoria Park being the dividing line has been in place for about 150 years. Moving Agincourt into North York is a mistake.
Please re-consider this proposed change.
