I was informed by my local MP that Elections Canada has plans to alter the boundaries of my riding Don Valley West. As a long time resident of Leaside it concerns me greatly that my area would move to a completely different riding that has no relationship whatsoever to my neighbourhood.
I have worked on many elections in this area as a volunteer and understand very much how well connected this current riding is and I would hate to see those boundaries altered in a way that makes no sense at all.
If change is necessary to fulfill some population issue created by the latest census I understand the need to adjust some borders, the way the proposed map illustrates these adjustments looks like someone was let loose with a magic marker.
Rob Oliphant has been my member of Parliament for many years and he has served our community and the entire riding with compassion, dignity, caring, respect and dedication. I had the distinct pleasure of volunteering at his constituency office for several years and saw this first hand. I have rarely seen anyone work as hard as he does.
I don't want to lose him as my MP and if this map goes through I will.
