I am writing about the proposed electoral changes to Scarborough. This is an atrocious tactic to marginalize a community that already represents global marginalized communities.

I came to Canada in 1994 at the age of 2. My family and I landed at Victoria Park and Lawrence, an integral part of the immigrant community. I am proud to say we went straight to Scarborough from Pearson International Airport. With your preposed changes, I would not be able to hold the same pride when telling my kids that this USE to be Scarborough.

I went to Vradenburg Community Child Care Center and Vradenburg Junior Public School that have famous alumni like Nina Dobrev and Jahmil French, and those are the one's I can name during my time there. Jahmil would be rolling in his grave if he could see what you are trying to do to Scarborough.

The 6th annual OVO fest had a celebrity kickball game at Wishing Well Park, hosting NBA players LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Brampton native Tristan Thompson, alongside Drake and crew. If you had your way this iconic park would no longer be part of Scarborough, and the part it has played in it's history.

Sir John A Macdonald Collegiate Institute and Wexford Collegiate School for the Arts would belong to North York under your proposal. Are you going to revoke the Scarborough card from Michael Myers, Kawa Ada, Shamier Anderson, Wayne Dillon, Fefe Dobson, Jamal Magloire, Mike Johnson, Mike Levine, John Anderson, William Blair, Eric McCormack and more?

What can I say about Johnny's Hamburgers? A staple of the community since 1967, it is the only original building left standing on the south east corner of Victoria Park and Sheppard. When you go to their website, in the about section it states:

"Johnny's Hamburgers is a family run burger joint established in 1967. Keeping tradition very close to our hearts, we do our best to keep our restaurant the same way as it has been for the last 50 years.

We are proud to be part of Scarborough history for the last 50 years and we plan to stay here and serve for the next 50 years."

Poor Johnny's might start serving lettuce if you make it part of North York.

It is not lost on the former and existing residents that the new proposal takes away some of the wealthiest Scarborough neighbourhoods, and making them North York. Scarborough will not stand for this. We propose you extend the lines of the existing Scarborough electoral to Don Mills, where it should be.

Sincerely a Scarberian.
