To the Hon. Justice Leitch, Dr. Bird and Dr. Loewen

Ontario Commission for Redistribution Federal Electoral Boundaries

I write to you on behalf of the Brimley Forest Community Association. Our group represents the Brimley Forest neighbourhood which is situated inthe historic community of Agincourt village in the riding of ScarboroughNorth. We have seen the proposal to move half of our community into "Scarborough Northwest" and to move the other half into Scarborough-Rouge Park.

We do not agree with this unjustifiable proposal.

The new riding of "Scarborough Northwest" will combine our Brimley Forest neighbourhood with a lot of other neighbourhoods which we have little or no connection to. Our neighbourhood's history and interests are connected to the other neighbourhoods that surround Sandhurst Circle which the proposal splits at McCowan Rd. Keeping our neighbourhoods connected will require you to keep the riding of Scarborough North intact.

To give you an example, Albert Campbell Collegiate Institute is the high school that is situated in our Brimley Forest neighbourhood. The students that attend this school normally reside in the 'school catchment area' that is bounded by Midland Ave to the west, Steeles Ave to the north, Markham Rd to the east, and Huntingwood Ave to the south. This is one fully connected area of schools, community groups and organizations which work together to advance our collective interests.

The Brimley Forest Community Association requests your thoughtful consideration to our community's interests and history in seeking the following:

  • Keep our riding of Scarborough North intact
  • Keep our neighbourhoods in the Sandhurst Circle/Agincourt village area within Scarborough North
  • Keep 6 strong ridings for Scarborough which has high needs and highly diverse immigrant populations

Respectfully yours,

Sikander Khan,
President
Brimley Forest Community Association
