Francis Jarvis

My name is Francis Jarvis, and I live in the Toronto political riding of Scarborough Southwest. I am writing to say that I am outraged by the current proposal to replace the Scarborough-Agincourt riding with the larger Scarborough-Northwest. I am extremely opposed to this proposal, and I urge you to fight against it to the best of your ability.

Scarborough has a rich and diverse community, unique only to this small slice of Ontario. If this proposal is accepted, part of our history, our culture, our community, and our lives as a whole will be fundamentally erased forever. Less representation in parliament is never a good thing, but it is especially devastating for the community members of Scarborough-Agincourt, who are extremely racially and ethnically diverse. It is now more important than ever that democratically-elected government leaders advocate for all community members, especially BIPOC and LGBTQ+ people - both groups of which make up an extremely large portion of Scarborough's population.

What is at stake are generational businesses, family homes, health care for everyone, and community organizations. School, day care, and property tax are just some of the things that may increase in price if this proposal is accepted. Real people with real lives live in Scarborough, and our lives WILL be affected by this in only negative ways.

If accepted, this proposal will only harm the community it seeks to represent. Please do not allow this change to be accepted as law.

Thank you very much for your time.

Warmest regards, Francis Jarvis (he/him)
