I am a resident of the City of Kingston. I am writing about the issue of the electoral boundaries for where I live, which is just north of the 401, but part of the City of Kingston, not Gananoque, Brockville and Prescott. I would like to point out the following, that validates my concern.

  • If we require police or fire services, Kingston Police and Fire Departments respond.
  • All of my activity, whether it's cultural, economic and social, takes place in Kingston. Not surrounding towns or cities.
  • Despite being north of the 401, I pay $5000 in property taxes, which is the same tax rate as people who live south of the 401, despite already not receiving all the services that the south of 401 residents do, why am I also included in a different electoral boundary? We already feel "excluded," as it were.
  • If I require service from constituency office, I should not have to drive to Brockville. What would anyone without a vehicle have to do?

I would appreciate if we were not included in the riding of Gananoque, Brockville & Prescott.

Thanks for consideration regarding this matter.

Sincerely,

Lynne Meilleur
