My reason for writing to you is to address the redistribution of the federal electoral districts, namely Kingston and the Islands regarding what I call a common-sense approach based on service ability of the member for constituents and the driving distance faced by constituents in the proposal of drawing the lines for those living north of the 401 corridor outside of Kingston.

All of Central and South Frontenac would reasonably be better serviced out of the office of Kingston and the Islands and the driving distance would be far less going to Kingston than to Brockville. As a matter of fact, having Gananoque become part of Kingston and the Islands would make sense also. I suspect the majority of Gananoque residents travel to Kingston to do their retail and other business. A border including the town limits of Gananoque and north on Highway 32 to 15 then north to the Westport Road and West to cover Westport and the two Frontenacs mentioned above seems quite logical.

Given the skyrocketing costs of fuel, the weak transportation systems in the district, I suggest shorter drive times only makes good sense and will also serve to reduce carbon pollution. Every day people just can not afford to run out and buy an electric vehicle due to the high basic cost, the cost of electric connections to recharge batteries, the lack of reasonably high incentives and the lack of charging infrastructure to give them the sense of security they will get back home without their electric car failing to run because it ran out of power.

All in all, I suggest a closer-knit Electoral District for Kingston and the Islands and the residents of the suggested area above so as to make life easier and less expensive for everyone.

I leave it to you to balance the district representation by population.

Let's do it right this time.
