At present we live in Elginburg and pay taxes for services to the City of Kingston. Why then are we under the electoral jurisdiction of Smith Falls/Perth. Presently, in order to locate our local MP at their constituency office we would be required to drive an hour and a half from where we live. Now, the new proposal is to make our boundary Gananoque Brockville and Prescott which would require again travel of 49 minutes. All Kingston residents should belong in a Kingston and the Islands riding. We need to be able to voice our local concerns to someone local. Since this process will not occur again for another 10 years, that is too long to have our voice heard. We are opposed to the existing electoral boundary and definitely opposed to the proposed change.
