I consent to having my full name and comments posted on the electoral boundary commission's website.

I live in Glenburnie. This address is within the municipal boundary of the City of Kingston. When I first moved here I was upset to find that I was not included in the federal riding of Kingston and the Islands and that I was included in a riding with people from as far away as Carleton Place. Glenburnie has nothing in common with Carleton Place and everything in common with Kingston. We have even less in common with Gananoque-Brockville-Prescott. I want to be able to vote and commiserate with my friends and neighbours in Kingston.

The following are 4 reasons for my objection:

  1. my area shares police and fire services with Kingston.
  2. my area's social, cultural, and economic activity all centers around Kingston (not Gananoque, Brockville, or Prescott).
  3. my area pays property taxes to the City of Kingston (not Gananoque, Brockville, or Prescott).
  4. the average distance to the constituency office would be 10 km in Kingston versus 90 km in Brockville.

I understand that some electoral districts need to be spread out due to population statistics but, when there is a natural connection, that connection should be maintained.

Sincerely,

William A. Mitchell
