I am sending this email to back up my signature on a petition to change our electoral boundary and reiterate my objection to any change of my electoral boundaries.
Currently, I reside in the Township of Greater Madawaska which is in Renfrew County. With the new proposal, the Township of Greater Madawaska would fall under the County of Lanark- Frontenac.
With Perth Ontario being the closest major city, 60 minutes away on a very twisty and hilly road, I have no connection to this City or any part of the Township. Between Calabogie and Perth, one would find only dense forest with a few residences spaced out and a couple of very small villages which have virtually no services.
Residents of Greater Madawaska have a strong connection to Renfrew County. Our interests align as outdoor activities are a great part of our lifestyle. We have nothing in common with our neighbours to the south who traditionally have more of a "city mindset" as they are close to Ottawa. Areas of concern to them may not hold the same significance to our residents.
I would ask that this boundary is given a reconsideration and that a decision to leave us within Renfrew County be the outcome.
