Please accept my written submission to reconsider the electoral boundary to include the area north of the 401 back into the Kingston and the Islands federal riding boundary.

My preference is that this area stays within the Kingston and the Islands federal riding boundary, instead of having it included in the proposed riding of Gananoque-Brockville-Prescott.

While currently I do not reside in this area, I am considering moving to North of 401 and would appreciate this region to be considered as part of the Kingston and the Islands federal riding boundary. I personally feel connected with this region since moving here in 2010 so it would feel unwelcoming to be considered part of the different riding.

There are other reasons for why I believe it should belong to the Kingston and the Islands riding. For example, it shares police and fire services with Kingston. For shopping and kids' activities, I would still travel to Kingston, not Gananoque, Brockville or Prescott. I will still pay property taxes to the City of Kingston.

Finally, the average distance to the constituency office is much shorter (10 km to Kingston), rather than to Brockville (~ 90 km). Currently, there are many roads that allow me to travel directly from North of 401 to Kingston. However to go to Brockville, Gananoque, or Prescott, one often has to travel through Kingston and require more mileage and resources.

Most importantly, I feel my federal MP in Kingston has been responsive to our voices and I wish to belong to the same riding if I move to North of 401 in the near future.

I hope you will reconsider on the decision to change the electoral boundary.

Thank you in advance,

Cynthia Leung
