Dr. Lindsey Patterson

I am writing to voice my deep concerns, frustration and anger about the proposed boundary change that would result in my electoral riding changing to Gananoque, Brockville, Prescott.

Since my riding changed from Kingston and the Islands to Frontenac, Lennox, Addington, I have experienced virtually zero engagement from my elected representatives both at the Provincial and Federal levels of government. During elections there has been a paucity of information leaflets and no in-person visits. This is in sharp contrast to what I experienced when part of Kingston and the Islands. The candidates have very little knowledge about my community in general and cannot truly appreciate the issues facing my community. My ability to vote in person has become prohibitive, due to the distances involved. The thought of now being part of a riding where the constituency office is 90km away in Brockville will create a situation that is even worse than what I currently experience.

The bottom line is that

  1. I live in the city of Kingston,
  2. I pay my property taxes to the city of Kingston,
  3. I am covered by the bylaws of the city of Kingston,
  4. My child went through all levels of schooling in the city of Kingston,
  5. I work in the city of Kingston,
  6. I share Fire and Police services with the city of Kingston,
  7. My social and economic activities are centred around the city of Kingston.
  8. My elected representative's constituency office should be within the community I live in and readily accessible.

I am a citizen of Kingston and I believe my electoral representative should be for Kingston and the Islands.

In reviewing the electoral boundaries, I feel that instead of including me within the new proposed riding I should be re-located to the electoral riding of Kingston and the Islands.

Respectfully

Dr. Lindsey Patterson
