I am writing to express my strong disagreement with the new proposed riding of Gananoque-Brockville-Prescott. I live at 4300 Unity Rd, Odessa ON, and my interests are much more in alignment with the riding of Kingston and the Islands for the following reasons:
- We share police and fire services with Kingston.
- My family's social, cultural, and economic activity all centers around Kingston (not Gananoque, Brockville, or Prescott). My wife and I own a multi-site childcare organization in Kingston which serves over 200 families. Our children attend schools within the Kingston boundaries.
- We pay property taxes to the City of Kingston (not Gananoque, Brockville, or Prescott).
- The average distance to the constituency office would be 15 km to Kingston versus nearly 100 km to Brockville.
The City of Kingston and services it offers are central to our family, both personally and professionally. Decisions that are made for our address need to be made by those familiar with our community who respect and understand how closely tied we are to the City of Kingston. I strongly urge you to keep our address within the the Kingston and the Islands electoral boundaries.
