As a resident of Kingston living north of Highway 401, I wish to express my feelings regarding the proposed redistribution of the area to yet another riding with which I have no affiliation. The decision to include part of the city of Kingston in a riding stretching all the way to Carleton Place, over 100 km away, was a grave injustice to voters who have lived in the city of Kingston for many years. Now we learn that this section of the city is to be included in the Brockville riding, also a considerable distance away. I urge the Commission to reconsider the idea, and to return this area to the Kingston and the Islands riding so that we can have easier access to our MP and MLA. I see no logic in the fact that we vote for our local municipal government, and yet are denied the opportunity to vote for the MP and MLA for Kingston. It simply does not make sense.
