Keep Rideau Lakes identity in Federal Election Boundary Change

Millenor Family started this petition to Paula Puddy (Chair, Electoral Boundaries Commission for the Province of Ontario)

The Rideau Lakes area is an area of cultural and historic significance in Canada. Currently, we are represented by the Member of Parliament who is elected in the "Leeds - Grenville - Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes" riding.

The change to the electoral boundaries would move Rideau Lakes into a riding called "Lanark - Frontenac" - Here is a link to the government website sharing the changes: Redistribution of Federal Electoral Districts - 2022 (redecoupage-redistribution-2022.ca)

Although joining the folks in Lanark -Frontenac is not a bad thing at first glance, losing having our area named in the riding is a loss for us. We take great pride in our area and it is familiar to many Canadians as it has such an important part in our nation's history. Ideally, a new riding name would be "Lanark - Frontenac - Rideau Lakes" and that would better reflect the nature of the riding.

Presentations by Members of Parliament are being tabled in the month of October 2022. Now is the time to sign this petition so that our name won't be lost from the new riding's name.

Signing this petition is to ask the Federal Government to name "Lanark - Frontenac" riding as "Lanark - Frontenac - Rideau Lakes"

This petition will send a notification to the Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission for Ontario. If you wish to contact them yourself, here is their contact information:
