As a long-time resident of Kingston East (formerly Pittsbugh Township), I vehemently oppose the proposal to incorporate Kingston East into a federal riding that includes Gananoque, Prescott, and Brockville, for the following reasons:
- Kingston East (note the name) and its residents have always been closely associated with the City of Kingston. In the years since amalgamation we have become completely integrated with the Greater Kingston community;
- We have very little, if anything, in common with the issues and concerns affecting Gananoque, Prescott and Brockville;
- This proposal has not been set before the Kingston East community in a timely manner, allowing residents to become acquainted with what has been proposed and to express their feelings;
- To my knowledge there has been no public meeting scheduled for this area to consider the impact this redistribution would have on residents and the community.
