I have serious reservations about this "redistribution" that directly affects the constituents of our historical electoral district. We identify as Frontenac County throughout South, Central and North which has been the norm for decades. Nothing will confuse our citizens more than this plan to include us in an East/West distribution. Our communities are close-knit and is one of the factors that has resulted in substantial growth to our districts through housing, business startups, tourism and convenience of like-interests that exists in this riding.
This will destroy the already fragile political interest of our citizens because of the confusion it will cause. We have nothing in common with for example Gananoque East. We will lose much of the interest that does exist among voters because they will feel that voting is a waste of time, why should a candidate from miles away care or know what issues we have in the "Frontenacs". We must keep our communities interests together to enable the ebb and flow of the area we all treasure. Do not disrupt what we have become used to, a stable electoral district that is familiar to our citizens, young and old, just to equalize the population in other ridings.
Our Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston works now and if left alone will prove that you "shouldn't mess with what ain't broke" .
