Dear Mr. Reid:
Re: Township of Central Frontenac- Regular Council Meeting- October 25, 2022-Resolution regarding the Federal Electoral Districts Redistribution 2022
Please be advised that the Council of The Township of Central Frontenac, at a Regular Council Meeting held October 25, 2022, received the resolution and report sent by the Township of South Frontenac and the Frontenac County regarding the Federal Electoral Districts Redistribution 2022. Council of the Township of Central Frontenac supported and passed the following resolution:
#17
Corporation of The Township of Central Frontenac- October 25, 2022
Correspondence Requiring Action
Resolution # 433-2022 Moved By: Councillor Smith
Seconded By: Councillor Heese
Whereas the Township of South Frontenac is impacted by a proposed amendment to the Federal Electoral Districts Redistribution 2022 proposal, to split the township into two separate federal electoral districts such that Bedford ward would belong to Lanark-Frontenac District, and the balance of the township would belong to the Gananoque-Brockville-Prescott District;
And Whereas the Township of South Frontenac does not support this change and is requesting that the entire township remain in the Lanark-Frontenac District;
And Whereas the County of Frontenac held a special council meeting on October 17, 2022 to pass a resolution in support of the Township of South Frontenac in keeping South Frontenac Township within the same district as North and Central Frontenac, being the proposed Lanark-Frontenac Federal Electoral District;
Now therefore be it resolved that the Council of the Township of Central Frontenac hereby supports the resolutions of the Township of South Frontenac and the County of Frontenac which both recommend that North Frontenac, Central Frontenac and all of South Frontenac be included in the same District (that being the proposed Lanark-Frontenac Federal Electoral. District) in order to retain the cohesiveness of the Frontenac townships north of the City of Kingston.
And further that a copy of this resolution be provided to all the lower tier Frontenac townships, the County of Frontenac, the Electoral Boundaries Commission for Ontario, and Scott Reid, Member of Parliament for Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston.
