I have recently heard that there are plans to redraw the Georgetown / Halton Hills federal electoral districts with parts of Milton and Oakville. As a resident of Georgetown for almost the entirety of my life, I strongly oppose these newly proposed boundaries.
By lumping us in with a new area, that while appearing near on a map, are much different in mindset, it will make it nearly impossible for us to have the representatives elected that best understand us here.
I also believe this may be an effort to gerrymander the next election, to provide an intentional advantage to representatives that do not have our best interests in mind and therefore do not tend to win on their own merits in previous elections. I do not want people who may be willing to be underhanded to make important decisions for my future.
