It has recently come to my attention that with the proposed boundary changes suggested for Halton Hills, that our town would actually be in two different ridings. The Georgetown section with Milton; Acton and its surrounding area with Wellngton.
I strongly oppose such a division as the Halton Hills citizens have worked intentionally for almost 50 years to become united as a municipality having been forced to join together as one town in the mid 70's as a result of provincial legislation. Please do not separate us now.
We have for many years opposed being in the Wellington riding as we have no other contact with that county other than as a federal/provincial riding. We have always been a part of Halton County as is Milton, so it would make much more sense to have us join their riding along with Georgetown. Please do not separate us now.
In order for an election to have importance to the citizens of the country they need to believe that their voice matters. If we were connected to a riding with which we have very little in common, it would negate a feeling of purpose. Please do not separate us now.
