Subject: Oakville Lakeshore Proposal
I would like to encourage you to reconsider the proposed redistribution for the Halton Hills area.
I am bewildered at the proposal to break Halton Hills into separate federal ridings. In doing this, the federal governement is actively dividing a community rather than encouraging a sense of community. Is the committee making this proposal aware that Halton Hills is a single municipality with a single town council. Milton is a separate community from Halton Hills with different issues. An MP for this region would be divided in his efforts. Furthermore, the disjointed structure would likely lead to a lack of accountability -- politicians would merely point their fingers at others and the people would not be represented.
The proposed boundaries seem to be focused on population numbers with no regard for community.
This is a bad idea and should be rejected.
