We are writing to share with you our thoughts on the proposed changes to the Burlington area federal electoral boundaries. The residents of Tyandaga and the city of Burlington, have needs that are unique and different than those of Oakville and Milton. These same residents access local community resources and supports such as hospitals, schools, community centres, recreational facilities and public transit directly in the city of Burlington. Again as residents of Burlington and the Tyandaga community, their needs are different than those of residents of Oakville or Milton.

Community voice is important and it is required to help form an effective democratic process.  By creating different electoral boundaries there is a chance that the unique voices of the varying communities of Halton will not be heard in a valuable way.  It is important that the needs of individual communities be represented as directly as possible and be provided the opportunity to be heard at all levels of government - municipal, provincial and federal.

The proposed changes to the electoral boundaries would potentially compromise the voices of all of these unique communities.
