I'm contacting you regarding the proposed changes in the distribution of the electoral districts, particularly changes in Halton Region.
As a Ward 2 Municipal Councillor with the Town of Halton Hills, I see the existing well-functioning boundaries and I'm quite troubled with the proposed changes, creating Georgetown-Milton East, by taking the area from the Wellington-Halton Hills riding. The changes would completely sever the Town of Halton Hills into two areas, which would cause confusion and misrepresentation within the riding. Halton Hills already has two urban centres/communities (Georgetown and Acton) which already creates some confusion, and this proposal will do nothing to improve the situation.
It feels like 'change for the sake of change.'
I'm a firm believer in 'Don't fix it if it isn't broken'.
Please reconsider redistributing the districts. They are in no way 'broken' and in the interest of preserving the existing 'well-oiled machine,' within the existing Halton Hills boundaries, I recommend that the proposed changes be left as is.
