Robert Martin

I am submitting this email and the attached image (which is the handout I provided to the committee at the Niagara Boundary Commission Hearing) and the GeoJSON of my proposal.

My proposal centers around moving Thorold to Niagara Centre, while adding Port Colbourne and Fort Erie to the more rural riding of Niagara West, which it has economic ties to. It moves Fonthill, a mostly suburban city, from Niagara West and adds it to Niagara Centre, which will balance population in a very similar way to the original proposal by the boundary commission. While many people at the committee hearing in Niagara advocated for unequal population in the four Niagara ridings, my proposal would avoid that, and would address the primary concern of many of the speakers from that meeting; Thorold being separated from Niagara Centre. My proposal would align cities with similar demographics and population densities together, while maintaining equal population between the Niagara Districts.

Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter, and I look forward to seeing your final proposal.

Thanks, Robert Martin
