Taking a chunk of the Town of Grimsby out of the Niagara West riding and sending it to a Hamilton riding makes little sense.

The area of Grimsby in question is part of the Regional Municipality of Niagara. It's services are all provided either by the Town of Grimsby or Niagara Region. There is little commonality with Hamilton /Stoney Creek.

Giving Thorold to Niagara West makes little sense either. It is a community on the Welland Canal. It makes more sense to put it with St. Catharines, Welland, and Port Colborne. The issues Thorold has will be very similar to the issues in those communities - much moreso than with the other communities in Niagara West.

If the Commission proceeds with this sort of distribution, the representation of the residents of Grimsby and Thorold will be severely negatively impacted. Grimsby will be lost with Hamilton / Stoney Creek due to Hamilton's size, and Thorold will be lost because their issues are so different to those of the rest of Niagara West.

Put Thorold with St. Catharines, and put Grimsby with Niagara West.

Andrew Bowles
