I am writing in connection with a notice I received from my MP Iora Khalid regarding the above, i.e. the proposed change in the federal electoral boundary for Mississauga — Erin Mills. I would like to submit my comments on this proposed change. I DO NOT support this proposed federal boundary change for the following reasons:

1. Negative Financial Impact on Our Home's Property Value — When my wife and I purchased our home it was because of its location in ERIN MILLS. To purchase in Erin Mills costed more than other surrounding neighbourhoods, including Meadowvale, but we liked the area and the school district so we purchased. Since then, over the years we continue to spend and invest in our home given the Erin Mills location is a preferred location as reflected by real estate values. The proposed boundary change will "move" our home location to Meadowvale, and it is a fact that Meadowvale's real estate values are less than Erin Mills. As such, my home's value and my equity can be negatively impacted by anything from $15,000 to $50,000 or more. I consider this totally unacceptable. I feel that I am being punished for choosing, buying and investing in a nice place to live and raise my family.

2. Potential change to Existing School Boundaries — One of the key reasons we purchased in Erin Mills was the fact that our children will be able to attend schools in the John Fraser — Gonzaga School District. It is a known fact that these schools are very good and hence living within this school district is highly sought after. As such, this has had a positive impact on my real estate value. I think it is very possible (and extremely likely) that soon after the proposed change to the federal boundary, the Peel school board will look to realign their school boundaries and hence my home will no longer be in the highly sought after John Fraser — Gonzaga school district. This again will have a negative financial impact on my home's property value, over and above what I indicated in point 1 above.

3. Negative Impact on our Retirement Plans — Our home is our biggest asset and hence plays a major role in our retirement plans. As stated above, we will see a significant reduction in our home's value and our equity if the proposed change to the federal electoral boundary occurs. This will have a negative impact on our retirement plans. Given my age, I consider this totally unacceptable.

I would like to propose that the boundary of Thomas Street be pushed over so the boundary becomes Britannia Rd. W. As such, the Mississauga — Erin Mills federal riding will include that segment captured by Highway 407 — Britannia Rd. W and Erin Mills Parkway.

As previously stated, I am of the view that this proposed change will have a significant negative impact on my family's financial position, and as such I cannot and do not support the proposed change. My fear is that despite comments and concerns from the public similar to mine above, the proposed change will still happen. As such, I really feel that my family and I are being punished for no good reason.
