Aurora's municipal boundaries reflect a homogenous community & one of unique interest. The proposed border divides a historically protected area of businesses & residents in one of Canadas's top 10 growing communities as of 2016–2021. With Wellington St at its centre, Aurora is home to the headquarters of Magna International, architecturally influenced by Parliament Hill in Ottawa. In the past two decades Members of Parliament from both historically governing parties have crossed the floor to the other only to then be re–elected. This makes Aurora unique nationwide and separates the community as one of interest.
The proposed border divides buildings across the street that are well over 100 years old. The proposal also divides the Business Improvement Association established to revitalize the area. In 2023, Aurora will be opening its new Town Square to attract pedestrian traffic and community events. To divide Aurora will deny cohesive provincial and federal representation, challenging government and business investment to the area.
