Dear Commissioners,

Thank you for the opportunity to provide feedback to you on the boundary proposal. I am writing as the former candidate for the provincial election 2022 in King—Vaughan. As provincial riding boundaries often mirror the one set federally, I felt it important to provide input based on my numerous and various interactions with the residents of King—Vaughan. Some of these points have been provided to you in more detail by in–person presentation from Frank Ye and virtual presentation today by Jared Foreman.

  1. I concur that Peter Rupert is not an appropriate eastern boundary for the riding. It makes significant sense to maintain the boundary along Dufferin St. This will maintain community connections for the many new immigrant Chinese residents in the area. I know that this is very important to them.
  2. I concur with lowering the boundary to include the residents in the Sherwood area. Currently they are boxed in by an industrial area and would be quite isolated if added to Vaughan—Thornhill.
  3. I concur that the boundary that currently runs along Padre Pio Gardens be moved to Major Mackenzie. This is a more natural boundary and prevents the small group of individuals from being isolated from their community.
  4. On an new point, I would ask for re–consideration regarding the removal of New Kleinburg from King–Vaughan and maintenance of the Woodbridge portion of King—Vaughan. It does not make sense to split one community and add it to a new one while maintaining the split of another community from it's natural connection. Vaughan—Woodbridge should include all of Woodbridge. This would make sense to the residents. Losing half of Kleinburg to Vaughan—Woodbridge does not make sense. It should remain with Old Kleinburg as part of King—Vaughan. Again, this would make sense to the residents of New Kleinburg who chose to live in Kleinburg and not Woodbridge. The number difference is not substantial. Both areas are in a growth phase and the numbers will balance going forward.

Thank you for your consideration of these points.
