I am a resident of Aurora and have supported both Liberal and Conservative electoral campaigns in my riding of Aurora Oak Ridges Richmond Hill. I have spoken with people throughout Aurora when canvassing door to door and many were upset that the city of Aurora was split between two federal ridings.

While I recognize that the current boundary might have been unavoidable, in this new proposed redistribution some of the confusion of the split could be partially remedied.

Rather than the new boundary dividing line being Orchard Heights, an Aurora local road, the dividing line should be the municipal boundary regional road St John's Sideroad. This would mean that all of Aurora west of Yonge would be in the Aurora Oak Ridges Richmond Hill riding rather than a more confusing and less logical portion.

It is challenging to explain federal electoral district boundaries to voters when they differ from local regional boundaries so wherever possible dividing lines that follow easily understood main roads or municipal boundaries would be preferable.

I propose that the boundary of St John's Sideroad, Yonge, Wellington, Highway 404, Elgin Mills, Bathurst would be the most effective borders for the new riding of Aurora Oak Ridges Richmond Hill.

I thank you in advance for your consideration in this matter.

Sincerely,

Shelley Henderson
