Manitoulin Island (P0P 1H0) is already a remote rural area and rearranging the riding area is going to further isolate us. We have worked hard to establish a link with Algoma area and we have a very successful relationship with the north shore that comprises Algoma. We are closer in distance and we have much more in common socially, economically, geographically and ideologically than we do with the Sudbury area.
We know this from experience. The school boards and the health units are aligned with Sudbury and they just do not work in the best interests for Manitoulin Island.
We have long standing and close relationships with our MP and MMP. They both serve us well. If federal boundaries change and provincial do not, we will be separated in irreconcilable ways.
Please reconsider keeping Manitoulin Island with the Algoma area.
