I object to the redistricting. Our political system favours representation by population as opposed to including representation by geographic location. Northwestern Ontario is a distinctly different region from Southern, Central and Northern Ontario. We have a separate culture and different needs, that are often under-represented in the federal legislature. The Federal and Provincial governments will look increasingly into our region for revenues derived from resource extraction. The proposed changes will mean less representation and increased cash-flow to the province. Northwestern Ontario residents will loose on both sides of the equation. Fewer MPs will reduce the likelihood that the region will have ministerial presence in the elected party. Less power. The results being taxation without representation. Hear our voice!
