Comments:
The creation of this electoral riding extends the boundary well beyond the city of Sault Ste. Marie to a much larger area. This region is largely part of the district of Algoma, which is strong identifier both historically and geographically for the people and communities of this region. Under the newly proposed boundaries the name "Algoma" would not been used in any of the neighbouring ridings. Although, a portion of the district will become part of the "Manitoulin - Nickelbelt" riding it would be advisable that this much larger portion be termed "Sault Ste. Marie - Algoma" in a similar fashion to the riding of "Thunderbay - Rainy River" in Northwestern Ontario. An alternative name might be "Sault Ste. Marie - Superior East", however the name Algoma is in all likelihood the better choice. Thank you.
